Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a primary healthcare profession with a very strong, researched, scientific foundation. The range of work is very broad and varied and in particular involves working with people to promote their own health and well being. Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function of various parts of the body that may be affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability. Chartered Physiotherapists combine their knowledge, skills and approach to improve a broad range of physical problems associated with different ‘systems’ of the body.
In particular they treat neuro-musculor (brain and nervous system), musculo-skeletal (soft tissues, joints and bones), cardiovascular and respiratory systems (heart and lungs and associated physiology).
What happens on my first visit?
Initially Jane will spend time taking a full medical and lifestyle case history, followed by a detailed description of your problems. She will then do a physical and neurological assessment to determine the nature of your injuries as well as to assess your general health. Proving that there are no health issues that require a GP referral Jane will explain the results of her examination and what techniques and methods she is going to use to treat you. Treatment may comprise of physical techniques such as massage and stretching, electrotherapy techniques such as ultrasound and interferential, as well as exercise programs.
